Abstract
Man's need to associate, create alliances, tribes or contracts is one of the oldest social needs. The need to belong to a certain community and the arrangement of that community is something that comes almost naturally by itself.
Philosophy deals with man, and therefore with the state. In a philosophical sense, the ideas by which man is guided in the realization of his needs are certainly Justice, Truth, Love, Freedom, etc.
From ancient times to the present day, the philosophical thought about the organization of the state and society has passed through different eras. Thinkers like Plato and Aristotle, with their views on the organization of the state and society, are still relevant today, because with their original thought they touched the very essence of human nature.
In his fundamental works State and Laws, Plato shows the way in which society should be organized in order to live virtue and the spirit of the times. Aristotle taught us that man is a social being, who must have before his eyes not only the best state, but also the best possible one. The task of the state is to morally perfect citizens, and it exists for the sake of a happy and good life. The state is a community of a certain constitution, and the formal principle of the state is the Constitution.
