Abstract

In this paper, we will deal with the history of the first women's movements that preceded the first wave of feminism in the Anglo-Saxon area, and an attempt to systematize them. We will use as the primary literature the book by Adriana Zaharijević from 2010 entitled Becoming a Woman, which is now becoming a notorious manual for reviewing the basic political and historical circumstances in the formation of the first women's movements in England and America. In addition to prostitution and slavery, as the main issues that marked the pro-feminist struggle in the second half of the 19th century, we will mention theoretical and practical issues that still remain unresolved today, after the third wave of feminism.
