Abstract
This paper tries to explain Sartre's concept of Nausea as a specific process of self-knowledge, i.e. knowledge of existence, by presenting the basic definitions of existentialist philosophy and art, as well as their ontological background and origins, through following the experiences of Antoine Rokanten in the novel Nausea; also with reference to certain comparative terms in the history of literature.
